    Shroombab, founder of the Junglistic Sistaz network, is a fixed “institution” of Austrias drum&bass-scene. She was born in Upper Austria and moved to Vienna in 1997 – where she started to change her instruments from flute & guitar to turntables & sequencers. Successfully: Gigs in over 28 countries of the world and several record releases on quality labels followed.

    Shroombabs efforts to create her own music and get perfect at spinning records were strong. But not enough, she combined creativity with her talent to organize things: She set up her own Drum’n’Bass nights called “Bass Land” (with MC Terra), her own label “High Tension Recordings” (with Polarity) and founded the “Junglistic Sistaz” – a database for women in drum&bass, which got a quality reference for female DJs especially in Eastern Europe.

    2011 – 13 years after her start – she still delivers the same quality as ever. Watch out for uplifting, spooky and movin’ DJ-Sets and strong tunes besides genre-boarders.

    At some point Drum&Bass was not enough anymore and she got infected by the rhytms of BREAKZ and DUBSTEP as well. In 2005 Shroombab started to play dirty breakz with electro influence as well under her nick “REMODEL”. In 2007 she also got into filthy dubstep. After a Bounce-Party with DJ Chef in Vienna she got totally hooked on the huge basslines, that originally brought her to drum&bass. A few month later, her first dubstep tune ever got signed two hours after finishing it – by the well-respected DUBKRAFT label from Romania. More things to follow!

    After five years of “winter sleep”, 2008 Shroombab decided to bring her label High Tension back. In 2010 she released her first album SPLENDID!

    DJ Hoppa started out in London with a residency for Rollercoaster – then in wkd, Camden Town. After moving to Leeds, Hoppa cofounded the “Cental Beatz” collective in Leeds together with LD50 (Lethal Dose), Ruckspin and DLR. Central Beatz rents out soundsystem and hosts a regular Drum and Bass event in Leeds focussing on a wide spectrum of the music, not the mainstream. After doing the rounds in houseparties and club nights throughout the city as well as playing on Leeds Student Radio (LSRFM), Frequency FM and winning the Frequency FM DJ competition, Hoppa moved to Munich to continue studying and meanwhile develop his skills as a producer.

    DJ Hoppa is a known lover of dancefloor, jump up tracks but always plays a wide variety of music in each set, with a lot of thought put into the structure of the mix – normally packed with double drops, fastmixing, and beat juggling.

    Deep Contact: Drum and Bass from beneath the surface!

    Seit einigen Jahren mittlerweile wächst ein gemeinsames Projekt mehrerer Drum&Bass, Jungle, Dubstep und Break-Beat Crews aus ganz Bayern heran, welches nun unter dem Namen Deep Contact in der Landeshauptstadt Einzug hält. Die Jungs werden keine Mühen und Kosten scheuen, euch zusammen mit dem Backstage Team monatlich mit internationalen, abwechslungsreichen und noch nie dagewesenen Künstlern aus der Crème de la Crème der Drum and Bass Szene die Kinnlade zu öffnen! Nachdem im Februar zusammen mit DJ Friction (Shogun Audio, UK) das Werk im Backstage München inoffiziell zur Dnb-Arena umgetauft wurde, präsentieren unsere neuen Locals im März bereits die nächste Bombe:

    DJ TEEBEE, der Knowledge Magazine Award Gewinner für „Bester internationaler Produzent“ aus Norwegen und Mitbegründer des Labels “Subtitles” wird sein Debut in München am 25.03.2011 in der Backstage-Halle feiern und ganz Bayern mit Drum and Bass, Neurofunk und Techstep zum bouncen zwingen!

    Deep Contact steht für emotionsgeladene Eskalations-Musik und Blinker-Links-Sound, und frei nach diesem Motto darf gemeinsam gesprungen, ausgerastet und abgeschaltet werden!

    „Beim konzentrierten Lauschen seiner Produktionen wird man erkennen, auf welchem qualitativ hochwertigen Niveau sich seine Werke bewegen. Exemplarisch steht der Track „Fingerprints“ auf seinem Debütalbum „Black Science Labs“. Die Fusion der einzelnen Elemente harmonieren wunderbar miteinander; düstere Klangstrukturen durchdringen unser Gehör und lassen uns vor Ehrfurcht erschauern, die Beats rollen unentwegt, ohne monoton zu wirken, die Breaks präzise wie eine lasergeschärfte Rasierklinge.

    In diesen Zeiten vermitteln TeeBees Produktionen eine unvergleichliche Atmosphäre und einen einzigartigen Vibe, der Millionen Meilen von der englischen Insel entfernt zu sein scheint. Seine Inspiration findet er in der Abgeschiedenheit seines Heimatlandes Norwegen. Wenn er sich in sein Studio setzt, um seiner Arbeit nachzugehen, manchmal auch zusammen mit seinem langjährigen Partner K aka Polar und ebenfalls Artist beim Label Certificate 18, dann kann er seiner Inspiration freien Lauf lassen. Man begibt sich auf eine kleine Insel an der Nordwest-Küste, um die richtige Umgebung zu schaffen. Gerade Norwegen und die anderen skandinavischen Länder bieten unheimliche Sonnenlicht-Effekte, die sogar Auswirkungen auf seine Musik
    haben. „Über drei Monate haben wir das Tageslicht nicht erblicken können, aber die Mitternachtssonne schenkte uns bei Zeiten 24 Stunden lang Licht, so dass ich das Gefühl der absoluten Ruhe verspüren konnte“, sagt er.

    Torgeir ist ein Abstinenzler, der nicht raucht und Alkohol trinkt. Zudem ist er ein fortgeschrittener Kung Fu Kämpfer, der den Shaolin Stil Hung Gar praktiziert, der auf Unberechenbarkeit beruht. „Ich versuche die Philosophie in meinen Beats miteinfließen zu lassen,“ erzählt er, „bei der Philosophie dreht es sich um Fallenstellen, Einsperren und seine Gegner mit dem genauen Gegenteil, was sie eigentlich erwartet hätten, narren.“ Er möchte sich nicht in Schemas und Klischees verlieren. Das Element der Überraschung, getreu aus einem Kung Fu Handbuch, ist entscheidend. Seine Vielseitigkeit spiegelt sich auch bei seinen DJ Sets wider, die meist vier bis sechs Stunden dauern können. „Wenn man für einen so langen Zeitraum auflegt, dann kannst Du die Crowd auf eine Reise mitnehmen und mit ihnen all die Höhen und Tiefen gemeinsam erleben,“ entgegnet TeeBee.“

    As a teenager Friction linked up with ‘Stakka & K-Tee’, who were
    heavily involved with Andy C’s Ram Records imprint. In February ’99 he
    released his debut single ‘Critical Mass’ under the name Kinnetix and
    until now he achieved numerous awards, like ‘Best Newcomer’ in the
    ‘Drum & Bass Arena’ Awards in 2002 or ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ at the
    2003 ‘Knowledge Magazine Awards’ to name a few.
    2009 Friction & K-tee’s vocal smasher ‘Fired Up’ on Hospital Records
    received great support from the likes of Annie Mac and even Pete Tong
    on BBC Radio 1. Friction & K-tee’s killer single ‘Set It Off’ dropped
    on Shogun at the end of the year. Along with that came a nomination
    for ‘Best DJ’ at the D&B Arena Awards and the new Shogun club
    residency in their home town of Brighton.
    2010 has been another non-stop roller-coaster ride for Friction with
    gigs from London to Sydney to Korea and even Hawaii. Although the
    schedule is fierce a Friction set never falters; whether he’s on two
    or three decks, playing for two hours or four, people are rapidly
    learning that, drum & bass fanatics or not, a night with Friction will
    be one to remember.
